🧠 Study Tips for B2 Learners
As a fluency coach, here’s what I always tell my upper-intermediate learners:
✅ Challenge yourself with more complex content
Engage with documentaries, TED Talks, and podcasts that cover challenging topics. This will help you understand more sophisticated language and improve your listening skills.✅ Debate about a variety of topics
Start discussing topics like work-life balance, happiness, and the meaning of life. These debates will help you think critically and express your opinions clearly.✅ Go beyond the surface answers
At B2, don't just say you like something or disagree with something—really express your reasoning behind it. Be curious and ask others for their reasoning, too.✅ Diversify your vocabulary in everyday situations
Start using more advanced vocabulary in daily conversations. Whether it’s talking about your career, hobbies, or personal experiences, try to incorporate new words and phrases regularly.✅ Read books and articles that challenge you
Pick books, articles, or news stories that stretch your understanding of the language. Focus on material that uses complex structures or vocabulary related to abstract concepts.✅ Write structured 2-3 page persuasive essays
Improve your writing by practicing longer, well-organized essays on complex topics. Make sure your essays have clear arguments, examples, and a logical flow.✅ Get comfortable with spontaneous speaking
Practice speaking without preparation to improve your fluency. Have spontaneous conversations with a language partner or tutor, discussing different topics without overthinking.🌟 Need help reaching B2?
