Daily Routines in English

A Day in My Life

September 23, 20253 min read

One of the best ways to practice your English is by talking about your daily routine. It’s something you already know well, so it’s a great way to use simple and practical language while building your fluency. By describing your day in English, you can practice using new vocabulary, improve your sentence structure, and get more comfortable with speaking and writing in everyday situations. In this post, I’ll share my daily routine as an example, and then I’ll give you the chance to practice describing your own!

My Daily Routine

I don’t have a very strict routine right now, but I try to keep some structure in my day. I usually wake up early, around 6:30 or 7:00 a.m. After getting up, I wash my face, brush my teeth, and get dressed. To start my morning with a positive mindset, I spend a few minutes on mental practice by reading a self-help book for about 5-10 minutes and taking notes on what stood out to me. After that, I do yoga for 10-15 minutes to stretch and feel energized.

Once my morning routine is done, I begin work. This could mean teaching a class or networking with other tutors. Around 9:00 a.m., I cook breakfast. I follow intermittent fasting, so I only eat two meals a day, plus a snack. My snack is usually something sweet because I have a sweet tooth!

During the day, I work on creative tasks like recording podcasts, writing blogs, making videos, or replying to messages on social media. I also try to stay active by taking a walk every day. My workday typically ends between 9:00 and 11:00 p.m. Before bed, I take a shower and relax by watching YouTube videos or series. Then, I head to bed and get ready to do it all over again the next day.

It’s Your Turn!

Now that you’ve read about my routine, let’s talk about yours.

Here are some questions to help you practice:

  • What time do you wake up?

  • What do you do in the morning?

  • When do you eat breakfast, lunch, or dinner?

  • What do you do during the day?

  • How do you relax in the evening?

Try writing your answers in full sentences. For example, you could start with:
“I wake up at 7:00 a.m. I brush my teeth and eat breakfast. Then, I go to school.”

Remember, don't worry about being perfect—just practice using English to describe your day! You can answer in the comments on the video above or in the Student Portal
